For many – dare I even say most? – people, resolutions are those things you know you should stop or start doing and with the turn of the new calendar year, you tell yourself this is finally the time. I’m going to the gym. I’m going to stop smoking. I’m going to save money. I’m going to … I’m going to … I’m going to.
And then, for about a month or so, you do. But resolutions just don’t seem to stick. They’re usually based on fear of what happens if you don’t do them, so they motivate, for a while. They don’t inspire us to shift our mindset toward what we DO desire instead.
Have you created a resolution on New Year’s Day that actually stuck? I’d love to hear what you did to cause that shift. Was it moving from what you didn’t want to what you did want? Was it fear or was it commitment?
This year decide what you do want your life to be. How do you desire to feel about yourself and your life at the end of each day? What are you willing to do to experience that feeling? Are you committed or just interested?
This can be the start of something entirely new for you, or it can be a continuation of the way things have always been. There is no good or bad, there is just what is. And you have the power to shift what has been to what will be.
What do you choose?
Happy 2019. May this be the year you live the life you truly desire!
