Many people live lives of quiet desperation, trying desperately to hold on to as much perceived control as they possibly can.
Taking risks for some people can seem irresponsible. “Go with the sure thing,” they’ve been conditioned to believe.
Yet without taking a risk here and there, our lives would be predictable and probable instead of exciting and full of possibility.
Sure there are risks and costs to a program of action, said JFK, but they are much less than that risks and costs of comfortable inaction.
What are you risking by NOT following your goals and dreams? You will never escape risk. It’s part of what you signed up for in this human lifetime. Something is always at stake. You can only decide which risks to take.
As long as you’re going to have to take risks anyway, wouldn’t you rather gamble on yourself? It’s not so much taking a big chance, it’s giving yourself a big chance.
Even our constitution only guaranteed us life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, not happiness itself. We’ve got to take action. To pursue whatever it is our hearts call us to pursue.
You will never know what is possible if you remain stuck where you are.
